Every now and then, there comes a movie that changes the course of film making and the audience's perspective of viewing the film. It used to be very regular before the 90s. More content-driven films were released during that period and stood as cult classics in the aspects of action, direction, and more importantly in storytelling. Let's look at 7 vintage classics, and whom would we cast if they were remade today.

1. Dana Veera Sura Karna

We should feel sad about not experiencing this masterpiece in the theatres. Dana Veera Sura Karna came from the mastermind of Viswa Vikyatha Natasaarwa Bhouma Shri. NT Rama Rao Garu. He acted and directed this magnum opus in just 43 days. Legendary NTR acted in three roles of Lord Krishna, Karna, and Duryodhana. There were many anecdotes about the filming of DVSK said by many popular actors who worked with NTR then. If Dana Veera Sura Karna had to remake now, there is only one option to choose i.e Young Tiger Jr. NTR. Other than him, it is impossible to do a mythological role with that efficiency and live up to great NTR. In 1977 itself, NTR and his team created a new world of ancient Hasthinapuram. Now, with the advancement of technology, it will be easy to create that visual wonder.

2. Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari

Megastar Chiranjeevi's everlasting screen presence, Athiloka Sundari Sridevi's everlasting beauty, and above all, K. Raghavender Rao's vision made Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari a timeless classic. This movie has also set a new record by managing to pull the crowds to theaters despite floods in Andhra. Thus Jagadeka Veerudu became the first movie to collect more than 10 crore share in Telugu states at that time. The humongous success of this film brought not only a huge amount to Vyjayanthi Movies but also infinite respect to the banner.

What if the next generation actors of the lead cast-in for the remake of Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari. That would be a perfect choice to have Megastar Ramcharan reprising the role of Chiru and Jahnvi reprising her mother Sridevi in JVAS.

3. Aditya 369

This movie came purely from the brilliance of a very versatile person and director Shri. Singeetam Srinivas Rao Garu. His vision, his clarity, and his passion to tell unique stories driven him throughout his career. As a result, Aditya 369 happened. Even now, we feel how the director told such a complex story very smoothly without any jerks. Hats off to the director Singeetam Garu and Nandamuri Balakrishna for accepting a story on time-travel and being in front throughout the journey.

4. Gundamma Katha

Gundamma Katha is one of the finest movies ever made in Telugu featuring our all-time favorite actors NTR, ANR, Savitri, Jamuna, and Suryakantham. Gundamma Katha was a thorough laugh riot with towering performances from the lead actors. If we had to remake this classic, no other option casting other than Jr. NTR and Akkineni Naga Chaitanya. These two would be a perfect pair to do the roles of their late grandfathers. Both NTR and Chay were interested in doing this remake but the main problem coming in the casting of Suryakantham who plays the titular role. It's not an easy task to play the role of Gundamma as Suryakantham Garu did it flawlessly.

5. Pushpaka Vimanam

During the days of Singeetam Srinivas Rao Garu assisting the legendary director K.V.Reddy, there was a scene in his film in which the character has to emote without dialogues. That scene planted a seed in the mind of Rao why not to make a whole film without dialogues. It haunted him for so long, and then he made Pushpaka Vimanam casting Universal hero Kamal Hassan and Amala in the leads. Pushpaka Vimanam became a landmark in Indian cinema and the first movie to release after completing the era of silent movies. This movie won many accolades, including the National Award for the best movie providing wholesome entertainment.

6. Mosagallaku Mosagadu

Superstar Krishna is the only actor in their generation for doing plenty of experiments and bringing new technology into films. He is also the only actor to introduce different genres to the Telugu cinema. In that context only, he did the first cow-boy film called Mosagallaku Mosagaadu in 1971 with full-fledged westernized action. This movie was produced by Krishna himself under Padmalaya Arts and directed by K.S.R. Das.

Like his father, Super Star Mahesh Babu has all the qualities to remake Mosagallaku Mosagadu. But Mahesh is very determined not to remake a movie as it won't excite him. But his fans are waiting to see him in cowboy getup. Mahesh already did a film Takkari Donga but was not satisfactory. We wish Mahesh does a film based on this genre and satisfies his fans as well as the audience.

7. Maya Bazar

forget about re-doing this movie with the present generation of actors because miracles won't happen again and again. Keeping this movie as it is is the respect we give to it. Maya bazar is considered a classic of Telugu cinema, particularly in its use of technology. This movie was definitely ahead of its time. It is still a mystery how Marcus Bartley could morph Sasirekha(Savitri) through the ripples in the pond. It was an absolute masterpiece, considering the equipment in use, those days. In the absence of hi-def cameras, computer-generated visual effects and high-end computers, the direction, cinematography, and visual effects were efforts of sheer human genius. N.T.Rama Rao as lord Krishna, Savitri as Sasirekha, S.V.Ranga Rao as Ghatotkacha, and A.N.R as Abhimanyu gave impeccable performances. Maya bazaar was directed K.V.Reddy and produced by Nagi Reddy and Chakrapani under their banner Vijaya Vauhini Studios.
