Baahubali changed the course of Indian cinema, people all around the world appreciated and gifted a tremendous amount of money at the box office. We often talk about Director Rajamouli vision, Prabhas sacrificing five years of his career but fail to mention the efforts of another essential part, Rana Daggupati. Rana as Bhallaladeva played a significant role which made Baahubali one of the best pictures of Indian cinema. Coming from one of the founding family of Telugu cinema, Rana worked hard to become an actor.  Today on behalf of his birthday, here are the lesser-known facts about this all-rounder.




  1. Rana entered the film industry as a VFX artist.
  2. Rana’s first movie was “Leader” in 2010, which was a blockbuster. Rana made his Bollywood debut on 22nd April 2011 in “Dum Maaro Dum”.
  3. Did you know Rana can only see with one eye? He had a small issue with his eyes and has got a transplant done but cannot see from his right eye when left eye closed.
  4. Rana went on a hardcore fitness routine for the role of Bhallaladeva, for the first part he maintained 110 kgs, and for the second one, he lost 22 kgs.
  5. Rana has attended a stunt school in the US as he has a particular interest in doing stunts.
  6. Yes, he went on a strict diet for the ‘Baahubali’ series, but Rana Daggubati is a regular visitor to Charminar areas for Biryanis and Kababs. He calls himself a food lover.
  7. Rana is obsessed with shoes. He admitted that he purchases shoes everywhere he goes.
  8. He is one of the few actors in this generation who acted in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi alongside Amitabh Bachan, Akshay Kumar, Ajith and Sanjay Dutt.
  9. Rana is a die-hard fan of legendary actors Kamal Haasan and Sridevi. In fact, for his character in Baahubali, the actor took inspiration from Kamal Haasan’s cult classic Nayagan to get the nuances right for an aged man.
