Small-Budget Realistic Telugu Films Win Hearts & Box-Office In 2019

The change in the trends of watching a film and making a film is only understood by the success of a small film, or by the failure of a big-budget film. The course of style of film-making will take a new turn only by the small-budget movies when they make huge money. Hundreds of films release every year in the Tollywood, out of them only 5 to 10 big movies may release a year.

The course of style of film-making will take a new turn only by the small-budget movies when they make huge money. Hundreds of films release every year in the Tollywood, out of them only 5 to 10 big movies may release a year. The rest are all medium to small budget movies that will be released. 2019 also had been great for small films to make their mark in the industry.




1.118

Nandamuri Kalyanram got his breakthrough with 118 movie which was released in February. Ace cinematographer KV Guhan made his directional debut in Tollywood with this film. This thriller was very gripping throughout and the director was successful in keeping the suspense alive. Shalini Pandey and Nivetha Thomas played as heroines in the movie. Nivetha's performance was a major highlight for this film.



2.Chitralahari

In April, Supreme hero Sai Dharam Tej's Chitralahari was released and Tej scored a hit after a long gap. This movie was made on a very limited budget and attained hit status. DSP's music, Kalyani Priyadarshan's glamour and out of all director Tirumala Kishore's taking made this film a decent hit. Chitralahar has given a much-needed break to Sai Dharam Tej, and then he did Pratiroju Pandagae which became a blockbuster.



3.Mallesham

Comedian Priyadarshi's Mallesham is a movie to be remembered for years. This movie is based on the life story of a weaver Chintakindi Mallesham who invented Aasu Machine and received the President Award. Director Raj R designed the character of Mallesham taking from the real-life events, and Priyadarshi breathed life to the role. After the release of this movie, the team was highly praised, and the two states respected their work.



4.Falaknuma Das

At the end of the last summer, Vishwak Sen from the movie Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi created a storm with Falaknuma Das. This movie was an official remake of Malayalam blockbuster Angamaly Diaries, and Vishwak Sen himself acted and directed this crazy project. The Teaser and Trailer itself brought the buzz around this movie. Vishwak amazed everyone with his acting and direction skills and succeeded in seizing the soul of the original film. Also, the audience loved the role of Tharun Bhascker in this movie.



5.Agent Sai Sreenivasa Athreya

2019's biggest blockbuster in small film criteria was Agent Sai Sreenivasa Athreya. This comedy thriller was a huge money-spinner in the last year and encouraged the makers to do more of such flicks. AIB fame Naveen Polishetty's outstanding performance and the director Swaroop's brilliant writing took the movie to another level. Agent movie was a unique experience and a fresh breeze for the movie lovers.



6.Brochevaarevaru Raa

Another new-age film-maker Vivek Athreya debuted with Sree Vishnu's Mental Madhilo. He mistimed with that movie, but in 2019, he timed it superbly with Brochevaarevaru Raa. When you see these two films, we can know that Vivek is somewhat different from other directors and writers. Vivek wrote Brochevaarevaru Raa screenplay in a non-linear format, and the way he connected them just mesmerized the audience. Apart from him, lead actors Sree Vishnu, Rahul, Priyadarshi, and Nivetha Thomas did what is required to their roles



7.Evaru

Right now Adivi Sesh is in top form and delivering continuous hits. In the past year, Sesh did a movie called Evaru, which was an adaptation of the Spanish film An invisible Guest. Regina Cassandra played the lead role in this movie, and her acting capabilities were used to the fullest. Along with them, Naveen Chandra also did an excellent job in this movie. Evaru was made on low-budget but brought huge profits to the producers.



8.Evvariki Cheppoddu

Character artist Rakesh Varre turned as the hero with Evvariki Cheppoddu. Gargeyi Yellapragada was introduced with this film. The plot of Evvariki Cheppoddu is a love story in which casteism is the main conflict. The director of this movie did a superb job in dealing a serious issue more lightly. Rakesh Varre himself produced this movie and it did decently at the box-office.



9.Arjun Suravaram

Hero Nikhil Siddharth and his team of Arjun Suravaram faced many hurdles to release the film. After postponing repeatedly, the audience lost their interest in this movie. But after the release of Arjun Suravaram, trade analysts were in shock to know the figures. This movie was a remake of Tamil film but did outstandingly well than the original. Nikhil's acting is a treat to watch on-screen. Even Lavanya Tripathi got a good role in the movie after a long time.



Apart from these movies Raaja Varu Rani Garu, Yatra, Meeku Matrame Chepta, and George Reddy entertained the audience to some extent.
